About Southern Baptists

Southern Baptists are Christians who share a unique faith. We believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God and the sole authority for faith and practice. We believe that God calls us directly, as individuals. Believers accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior and are guided by the Holy Spirit. We believe that each church is autonomous, with people coming into the church as adult, youth or child believers and not as predestined infants.

Southern Baptists have a history rich in love and faith. Church members come from all backgrounds and ethnic heritages. We practice two ordinances: Baptism of Believers by Immersion and The Lord’s Supper.

We believe in religious liberty for all people. We think all church members are called to be witnesses of Jesus’ Gospel message. We believe that all church members are responsible to worship God, study the Bible, help those in need and spread the Word of God to others.

The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is a fellowship of over 47,000 Baptist churches scattered across the United States and its territories. These congregations, comprised of numerous racial, ethnic, language, and socioeconomic people groups, are called “cooperating churches.” They have organized themselves to accomplish a special set of missions and ministry initiatives, all for the purpose of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people everywhere.
