Music Ministry

Let everything that lives sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Our purpose and desire in music and worship ministry is to love the Lord our God and praise Him for who He is, what He has done and what He will do in the future. We do this through the medium of music, of course, and we strive to give our very best to glorify Him. We find the common bond of music draws us together as we serve, and the family of musicians at Calhoun First Baptist is a dedicated and loving group of people. In our worship we strive to lead all generations with music that comes in a variety of styles. We’ve found that more important than style is making heart-felt music that has substance. “Let everything that lives sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6 (NLT). You are encouraged and invited to join us in a ministry area that allows you to praise the Lord through music!

Music Groups

Worship Choir

Our worship-leading choir is for adults who love to sing! The Worship Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings in the choir rehearsal room at 6:45 p.m. and loving child-care is offered. The choir leads in worship each Sunday morning in the 11:00 am service and prepares special music presentations at Christmas and Easter. A variety of musical styles is sung and the members enjoy having a music family within the church family. Small ensembles and soloists originate from this choir. Many ask if the ability to read music is necessary. It is not! Come join the choir family!

Instrumental

Our instrumentalists gather each Sunday morning to lead in worship through playing! The group is comprised of everything from guitarists, drummers, wind players and strings. Anyone who enjoys playing an instrument is encouraged to contact the Minister of Music, Lance Cole.

Student Worship Team

Students grades 6 through 12 gather each Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the choir rehearsal room to work on music from contemporary to more traditional. They sing as scheduled on Sundays and Wednesday evenings and small groups and soloists emerge from this group as well. Some students also accompany this group on instruments as well. For more information, please reach out to our Minister of Music, Lance Cole.

Forever Young Singers

This group of 55+ aged singers meets monthly to minister to those in two of our local nursing home facilities. Reva Utz leads this choir with energy and she would love to speak with anyone who would like to join this ministry group.

Music for the Little Ones

We have a phenomenal program of music for those aged birth through fifth grade! They meet in various locations throughout our facility on Wednesday evenings at 6:00. Most sing in the Christmas program and then present music (preschool) and a musical (grades 1-5) in the spring. The children’s choir coordinator is Jill Repp.

Teeny Tykes and Tunes

An amazing program that links music to our littlest ones in a time for child and parent/grand-parent/caregiver. Birth – 35 months. And yes, it is free! (as most programs of this type have a fee attached, this question comes up a lot!)

Preschool Praise

Our 3-year old choir that makes lots of music with lots of energy!

Melody Makers

The PreK and Kindergarten group that enjoys music time each week along with singing in church and on special occasions from time-to-time.

Music Makers

This is the younger children’s choir for those in 1st and 2nd grade. While they remain separate for rehearsals most of the time, they do join forces with the Young Musicians in the spring to present a musical.

Young Musicians

Our oldest of children’s choirs for grades 3 through 5. These are the “big-dogs” who lead out in our children’s music ministry!
